National Poetry Month (20) – As words begin to fail

As words begin to fail,

Gestures and expressions say all I need to hear.

What once was filled with candor

Now contains only subterfuge and strife.

With each passing moment,

Memories no longer bring comfort and peace.

A future full of promise,

Instantly shattered and left broken.
